Dealing with concerns

Parents are asked to share any worries their child might have in school. Sometimes little things can upset a child, making them unhappy, and occasionally they may not want to come to school. As a parent, should you encounter any reluctance on your child’s part, please contact the class teacher so we can act quickly to alleviate any worries children might have.

Parent volunteers

We welcome parental interest and help in school and are always pleased to see you. There are many ways in which, if you wish, you can become actively involved in the daily life of the school. Your child’s class teacher will be pleased to talk about this with you and discuss ways in which you can help us.

If you have spare time regularly each week, we’d love you to come in for an hour and listen to some children reading or you could offer additional help for a particular activity (for example art, sewing, cooking).   Please let the office staff know if this could be of interest to you. Training will be provided if required.

Parents in School

At Barrington we have regular contact with Parents on a day to day basis. 

Parents are also invited to attend achievement assemblies and class assemblies which are held throughout the term.  Dates of these assemblies are circulated on the weekly newsletters to parents and are also on the school calendar on this website.

Parents’ Consultations

Parents' consultation meetings are held in the Autumn and Spring Term, in order for you and your child to meet with the child’s teacher and discuss their progress and targets for the following term.

Children are encouraged to attend these meetings with parents. Should you wish to discuss a matter concerning your child or see your child’s work on other occasions, an additional appointment can be made through the school office.
